Already boasting Forest Whitaker and William Fichtner in the cast, true-crime tale Finding Steve McQueen is adding more actors. Warcraft's Travis Fimmel and Kate Bosworth have joined the team.
Mark Steven Johnson is aboard to direct from a script by Keith Sharon and Ken Hixon. McQueen has nothing to do with either the screen icon or the director or 12 Years A Slave, but instead follows what happens when a crew from Ohio tries to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail cash from President Richard Nixon's secret slush fund in 1972. It ended up becoming the biggest bank heist in US history.
“Aligning a cast of this calibre with a fearless director like Mark has us all excited to see this story come to life,” producer Andrea Iervolino tells Screen International. “This is an explosive, character-driven film, smartly told in a way that will keep audiences guessing throughout. We’re eager to bring this amazing group together and start shooting in just a few weeks.”
Johnson is scheduled to begin production later next month in Atlanta, with AMBI Group providing the financing and the rights for sale at the Toronto Film Festival market.
