As Star Wars Celebration continued in Florida this weekend, there was more than just The Last Jedi to discuss. Fans of Star Wars Rebels faced a good news/bad news situation as the trailer for Season 4 premiered, but creator Dave Filoni also announced that it would be the last run of episodes for the animated series.
With the Rebels team facing tough choices and even more difficult challenges, the new season of 15 episodes will act as a bridge between events before and after Rogue One and A New Hope, with a darker tone and Forest Whitaker voicing Saw Gerrera. “I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of Star Wars and this show, for a lot of kids growing up with it, is as much a piece of Star Wars as any of the movies,” says Filoni.
Taylor Gray, Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum and Tiya Sircar are among the main voice cast, and the show follows a scrappy band of rebels who fight early battles against the Empire as they try to recover from the major blow at the end of Season 3.
The show should be back in the autumn. If you're in the mood for more Star Wars, the trailer for the Battlefront sequel game, set after Return Of The Jedi and told from the viewpoint of an Empire special forces trooper, has also arrived.
