You know you're not going to get something generic when Paul Schrader makes a film. And he's back with the much-praised First Reformed, which finds Ethan Hawke as a priest suffering a serious crisis of faith. Find the trailer for the drama below.

Hawke plays Reverend Ernst Toller, a solitary parish priest at a small church in upstate New York, one which is on the cusp of celebrating its 250th anniversary. Now more of a tourist attraction catering to a dwindling congregation, it has long been eclipsed by its nearby parent church, Abundant Life, with its state-of-the-art facilities.

When a pregnant parishioner (Amanda Seyfried) asks Reverend Toller to counsel her husband, a radical environmentalist, Toller is plunged into his own tormented past and finds himself questioning his own future and where redemption might lie. With the pressure on him beginning to grow, he must do everything he can to stop events spiralling out of control.

With Cedric Kyles (AKA Cedric The Entertainer), Philip Ettinger and Victoria Hill also in the cast, First Reformed will have its UK premiere at Sundance London on 1 June, with Hawke in attendance to introduce it. There's a further screening planned for 2 June and then the film will be out in the UK on 13 July.
