When the first instalment's red-band trailercame online in December, we pointed out that it was unlikely that Nymphomaniac's marketing campaign would ever be coy. But here's the first trailer for Nymphomaniac Volume II, which is surprisingly safe for work. Apparently Lars von Trier just likes screwing with us (no pun intended).
So yes, there's some sexual content there, but by the standards of this two-part film there's nothing explicit. Just some bondage, some fire, some Talking Heads, and Christian Slater's soul tree providing oblique hints of what's in store.
Nymphomaniac, in case you had forgotten, chronicles the erotic journey of self-diagnosed sex addict Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) from birth until the age of 50. The movie will jump around in time and cover a large number of characters. Among those appearing alongside Gainsbourg are Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Udo Kier, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Willem Dafoe, Stellan Skarsgard, Mia Goth, Nicolas Bros and Connie Nielsen.{Nymphomaniac book poster}
