We're nearing the end of the Game Of Thrones journey, with the series finale looming next weekend. And what then will we use when we need our fix of medieval-style politicking, armies marching and dragons roaring? HBO (and, in the UK, Sky Atlantic) would appear to have one answer, as The Last Watch, a two-hour documentary about the making of Season 8, will screen on Sunday 26 May. The trailer for the doc is below.
British director Jeanie Finlay spent a year poking and peeking behind the scenes as the cast and crew shot. The finished film promises "an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers."
As you'll see in the trailer, Finlay's access included sitting in on table reads of the script (including cast members getting emotional at certain details – looking at you, Kit Harington) and chronicles what it's like to devote your life to make a show like this and how bittersweet it is to say goodbye.
The Last Watch, as mentioned above, arrives on 26 May.
