It's that Galifianakis man again

Trailer Arrives For Due Date

It's a road movie, it's directed by Todd Phillips, and it stars Zach Galifianikis as a hirsute man-child. But it's not The Hangover 2, it's Due Date**, and the trailer has just gone online over at Yahoo Movies.

Zach co-stars with Robert Downey Jr, who plays a man desperate to get across country to his wife in time to participate in the birth of his first child. Michelle Monaghan is the wife (bit of a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang reunion there), and the movie also features Jamie Foxx, Alan Arkin, Juliette Lewis and The RZA. After all, it's a road trip. Zach and Rob have to meet people on the way.

There are vibes from Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Rain Man about Due Date's trailer, as well as, perhaps inevitably, a certain hit comedy about about the aftereffects of inebriation. Zach's Ethan here might as well be The Hangover's Alan - he'd better check himself before he wrecks himself (just watch the clip) - but there's a great sight gag involving a pickup truck and a drainage ditch. It's just a shame that Hulk Week is overshadowing Galifianakis Trailer Week (see also It's Kind of a Funny Story and Operation: Endgame).

Due Date's script is by Phillips, Alan R Cohen, Alan Freedland and Adam Sztykiel, and the UK release date is November 5th. Until then, keep pushing.
