Directing an Oscar winner such as Toy Story 4 (and, let's be honest, working at a place like Pixar) tends to open doors. That has been the case so far for Josh Cooley, who has now landed another big potential job. Universal has him writing and directing family friendly horror pic Little Monsters.

Nothing to do with the zombie comedy that featured Lupita Nyong'o, this will instead be based on the work of Jurassic World concept artist Crash McCreery and puts his spin on the studio's monster movies. Universal is keeping the actual plot idea locked in a dungeon, but it'll apparently be a multi-generational story brought to life in live-action/CG, featuring some of the classic creatures. It's just the latest move to try to crack the canon back open, following the success of The Invisible Man.

Yet this new film might have to wait in a queue, as the in-demand Cooley is also on board a newTransformersanimated film and a live-action fantasy film for Sony called Malamander, which adapts a children's book.
