The current Iraq conflict has become a fertile breeding ground for documentaries about the soldiers’ experiences. With the likes of Gunner Palace drawing acclaim and support, Focus Features has grabbed the rights to Patricia Foulkrod’s The Ground Truth: After The Killing Ends, which follows six troops as they prepare to enter service in Iraq.
Focus has been trying to buy the film for months after it launched at Sundance this year, as it’s slowly been drawing more and more attention for the story of the troopers from basic training to homecoming, via their time in combat.
"Patricia has made a searing film, one with exclusive footage that will stun audiences," Focus head James Schamus told Variety. "These soldiers are patriotic Americans articulating stories that must be heard."
