With the start of shooting just a couple of weeks away, director Nima Nourizadeh is putting the final casting pieces in place for his latest, action comedy American Ultra. According to Deadline, Topher Grace is set to hop on board.

American Ultra, scripted by Chronicle writer and Twitter gadfly Max Landis, finds Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart as a small-town stoner and his live-in girlfriend who enjoy a relatively quiet existence. All that falls apart when Eisenberg’s Mike discovers that he was once part of a Bourne-style secret government programme to develop assassins and that his past is about to violently catch up with him.

Uma Thurman is now confirmed as Mike’s old CIA handler, who arrives back in his life to defend him. Grace will be a hotshot agent, recently promoted and burning with the desire to prove his worth to his superiors by killing our hero and wiping a thorny problem from the government’s slate.

With Empire favourite Walton Goggins aboard as a mysterious character named “Laugher”, the cameras will begin rolling on April 14. Grace has comedy dramas **A Many Splintered Thing **and Don Peyote plus thriller The Calling ticked off his to-do list, but he’ll probably most be looking forward to seeing his work in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, which is out on November 7.
