Netflix continues to expand its plans for original programming, leading to a serious concern that it'll be offering up a premiere every day of the week before long. The latest order from the company is miniseries Unbelievable, which has Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever leading the cast.
The planned eight-episode series has quite the pedigree behind the camera as well as in front, with Erin Brockovich writer Susannah Grant producing and writing the show alongside Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman.
The Kids Are All Right's Lisa Cholodenko will direct the first three episodes, and the story is based on both a Pulitzer Prize-winning 2015 article An Unbelievable Story Of Rape written by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong, and a segment of US public radio series This American Life on the same topic. The case saw a teenager charged with lying about a sexual assault and the two detectives who followed a twisting path to the truth.
Collette and Wever will be the cops, while Dever's role has yet to be announced, though it's possible she's playing the young woman at the centre of the cast.
