Romantic thriller Andorra already boasts Clive Owen in the lead, but is now ready to boost its cast. Toni Collette, Joanna Lumley, Gillian Anderson and Riccardo Scamarcio are all attached to the movie.
Fred Schepisi is directing Andorra, working from Jamie Bialkower and Peter Cameron's adaptation of the latter's 1997 novel. Owen will be Alexander Fox, a bookseller who decides to depart the States after a personal tragedy. He moves to the tiny country of the title, looking for a chance to re-invent himself.
Yet while he quickly ingratiates himself with the locals, including Collette's Aussie, Lumley's matriarch and her daughter (Anderson), things take a darker turn when a woman's body is discovered soon after Fox's arrival. As the local police detective (Scamarcio) investigates, Fox's past threatens to swallow his newfound life.
Schepisi is planning to start shooting next April in Italy, and will round up more actors before then. It's good that he's booking his busy cast in now, especially since Anderson is about to start work on an Agatha Christie adaptation.
