It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about comedy pic Great Hope Springs, which nabbed Meryl Streep and Steve Carell to star back in February. But now Tommy Lee Jones has agreed to bring his particular brand of gruff charm to the other main role.

The plot finds Streep and Jones as a middle-aged married couple who realise that their long relationship has hit a serious slope. But instead of getting on the phone to the divorce lawyers, they decide to work on their marriage, heading off to a retreat that boasts a series of intense marriage counselling sessions with expert therapist Dr Field (Carell).

David Frankel, who worked with Streep on The Devil Wears Prada, is directing from a script by Vanessa Taylor, which we assume has more than just the basic concept about it since A) it landed on the Black List of best unproduced screenplays and B) has attracted a stellar trio of thesping talent.

It’ll kick off shooting in August to allow time for Carell to finish work on pre-apocalypse comedy drama Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Jones to be free of the marathon **Men In Black III **shoot and for Streep to have found seven or eight more chances to play parts that nab her Oscar nominations.
