First a novel by Dave Eggers and now a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks, A Hologram For The King has pedigree. It also has everyone’s favourite Tom doing several things we’ve never seen him do before: belting out some Talking Heads and, in the new UK trailer, even taking selfies. Hop to the YouTube link below to see Millennial Hanks in action.
The movie’s first trailer majored on the romantic subplot between Hanks’ salesman and the Saudi woman (Sarita Choudhury) who helps him when he has a panic attack. This one goes bigger on the self-realisation aspect of the story as Alan Clay, an American whose journey to the Middle East to sell some hologram tech to wealthy Arabs coincides with a big ol' life crisis.
“Sometimes,” voiceover man pointed out in [the first trailer](

Newcomer Alexander Black, Clay's Arab translator Yousef, will be helping him stay out of trouble when his jokes about the CIA go down badly with the locals.
Although the trailers have been light on them so far, Tom Skerritt and Ben Whishaw will also be appearing when Tom Tykwer’s film arrives in the UK on May 20.
