For all its roots in a graphic novel series that takes place deep in Americana, the cast for the Preacher TV pilot now underway is fairly stuffed with people from outside the US. The latest addition is Tom Brooke, who will play the angel Fiore.

Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, the comic-book series revolves around troubled smalltown Texan man of God Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), who merges with the spawn of a demon and an angel named Genesis. After developing the power to force anyone to do what he says, he heads out with assassin ex-girlfriend Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) and chatty vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) on a journey to find the negligent deity and discover why he is abandoning mankind. Fiore is an Adelphi, who partners with fellow heavenly type deBlanc to try to retrieve Genesis, the infant offspring of an angel and a demon.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are even now cranking the cameras on the pilot for US channel ABC, hoping to score a series order, and the cast also includes Elizabeth Perkins, W. Earl Brown, Lucy Griffiths and Ian Colletti. Brooke, a veteran of shows such as Sherlock and Ripper Street, has been seen on the big screen in The Boat That Rocked and The Young Victoria. He’s most recently worked on** The Dresser** with Ian McKellen and indie drama Iona.
