Todd Phillips Lines Up Next Two Movies

Todd Phillips, the director currently riding high off the back of** The Hangover**’s success, has lined up his next two movies.

One, unsurprisingly, is The Hangover 2, which Warner Bros. fast-tracked into development even before the Vegas-set comedy, in which three friends try to remember the events of a stag do that has seen them lose a groom and gain a tiger and a baby, was released.

But the first movie on Phillips’ slate is Due Date, which reteams him with his Hangover co-star, Zach Galifianakis, as the best friend of an expectant father, who’s racing across the States in a desperate attempt to attend the birth of his first child.

Sounds like a spiritual successor to **The Hangover **and Phillips’ first major film, Road Trip. And that’s no bad thing.

**Due Date **will start shooting in October, with Warners already staking out a release date on the first weekend of June next year – just like The Hangover, an indication that a Todd Phillips movie may become a regular summer tentpole.

To reinforce that notion, The Hangover 2, which will bring back the original cast, Bradley Cooper, Galifianakis, and Ed Helms, will start shooting next October, for a Memorial Day weekend release in 2011.
