Tobey Maguire is to team for a third time with Gary Ross, the director with whom he made Pleasantville and Seabiscuit. Maguire will take the lead in The Crusaders, the story of, to quote Variety, "the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education case".
Maguire will play a newly qualified lawyer, Jack Greenberg, who teams up with Thurgood Marshall, a NAACP Legal Defense Fund head and future Supreme Court Justice, to argue that segregation in American schools is illegal. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's going to be a heart-warmer.
The film is based on Greenberg's memoirs Crusaders In The Courts.
