Quick quiz: has Michael Bay locked in the entire cast for Transformers 4 yet? If your answer is, “Of course he has! He’s been shooting for a while”, go to the back of the class. He’s still finding people to add to the film, with Titus Welliver now aboard.

Welliver is well-known character face from a variety of TV and movies. He’s cropped up in the likes of Lost, Sons Of Anarchy, CSI, The Good Wife and Prison Break on the small screen and was most recently spotted in Promised Land and Argo in cinemas.

His role in the new Transformers film hasn’t been disclosed, but we know he’s joining a sprawling human assemblage that already includes Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller, Kelsey Grammer and Sophia Myles.

The fourth outing finds humanity recovering from the massive robo-battle in Chicago and sees most of the Transformers absent from Earth. But when the US government’s security teams start tinkering with leftover Cybertronian technology, an old threat is reawakened and Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots are needed to help once more.

Bay is cranking the cameras now, aiming for a June 27, 2014 release date. Welliver is back on screens – albeit in a small, uncredited part – for Red 2, which arrives here on August 2.
