Warner Brothers has already announced that it will dip a toe into dangerous, fan-heavy filmmaking waters and remake 1981’s Clash Of The Titans.
But now the company thinks its has found the scribe who’s up to the task. Travis Beacham – who first got notice when New Line grabbed his fantasy serial killer script Killing On Carnival Row for Guillermo Del Toro to direct – will be penning the new version. According to Beacham, his version will be a darker realistic tale of the gods of Mount Olympus.
"I'll keep the big mythological feel. That's what I totally loved about it when I saw it as a kid," Beacham told Variety. The film has been languishing in development Hades for a while now – the last writers to take a crack at it were John Glenn and Travis Adam Wright, who penned the recent remake of The Warriors.
Note to studios: if you absolutely, positively have to remake a movie with such classic stop-motion beasts as Titans, please, please, PLEASE make sure the effects work for the story, not against it. Thank you. Oh, and if you see Stephen Sommers anywhere near the set, have him marched out.
