Nearly ten years since Sam Worthington was first transformed into a gangly blue alien in Avatar, he’s getting an extra-terrestrial makeover of a different kind in upcoming sci-fi thriller The Titan.
The film is set on a near-future Earth where humanity is desperately seeking a new home. Worthington plays Air Force pilot Rick Janssen, whose decision to take part in a military experiment for the potential benefit of the human race may have unexpected repercussions. The plan is to transform him into a superhuman who can survive the inhospitable environments of Titan, the largest of Saturn’s many moons. But when the project gets underway, it appears that the intentions of the mastermind behind it are more nefarious than first thought.
We’ve got a first look at the project, with images of Rick in his human form and sporting a grey-skinned new look post-transformation.
There are also shots of Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling as Dr. Abigail Janssen, Rick’s wife, and Tom Wilkinson as the untrustworthy Professor Martin Collingwood.
The Titan is the directorial debut of German director Lennart Ruff, and it’s heading for UK cinemas on 13 April.
