While we don’t imagine that they go too crazy in their real lives these days – but who can say? – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler certainly know how to bring the party madness in their latest comedy. The new Sisters trailer is online and can be seen below.
With characters loosely based on writer Paul Pell’s own youthful diaries, Sisters finds Fey and Poehler as Kate and Maura Ellis, who couldn’t be more different, but have managed to bond as they grew up. Kate is the loose cannon, much less mature and ready to settle down, where as Maura has become more grounded, but is going through a divorce. Summoned to their old home, they discover that their parents are selling the place and they have to clear out their old rooms.
Instead of simply getting on with clearing the place, they decide to have one last massive party, something that Maura never got (or really wanted) to do when they were younger. And soon the thing is out of control… It’s always good to see Fey and Poehler sharing the screen and trading quips, and they, alongside Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore, have hired a reliable bunch of folk for the supporting cast including Ike Barinholtz, Maya Rudolph, Samantha Bee, John Leguizamo, Rachel Dratch and this year’s big comedy surprise, John Cena, who did such sterling work in Trainwreck. The doors swing open in the UK on December 12, the film having apparently smartly moved up a week to avoid the all-consuming behemoth that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
