For his new drama, The Song Of Names, The Red Violin's director Francis Girard has assembled quite the cast. Heading the pack are Tim Roth and Clive Owen.

They're part of an ensemble that also includes Catherine McCormack, Jonah Hauer King and Gerran Howell, for a film adapted from Norman Lebrecht's award-winning novel by scriptwriter Jeffrey Caine.

The Song Of Names is described as "an emotional detective story spread over two continents and half a century. Beneath the film’s stunning and emotional musical revelation burn the horror of a war and the lost souls extinguished from history. A journey through friendship, betrayal and reconciliation between the lead characters culminates in the Song of Names, as music shows the power to illuminate truth, heal and redeem."

Howard Shore will be working on the score, with Girard kicking off shooting tomorrow in London ahead of a schedule that will take him to Budapest, Treblinka, Montreal and New York.

Roth is part of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (out on 26 July next year) and will also be seen in The Jesuit. Next up for Owen is Three Seconds and action thriller Gemini Man, due on 4 October 2019.
