After directing Garfield: A Tail Of Two Kitties and Alvin & The Chipmunks, you’d think that Tim Hill had had enough of movies about animals.

But when you consider that Alvin has grossed, so far, $348 million worldwide, you can see why he’s having another go.

It was announced today that Hill is developing an as-yet untitled romantic comedy, with an animal theme, over at Fox, the studio behind Alvin and Garfield.

The project has been written by Dale Kutzera and David Mickel, for whom this will be their first collaboration, and will be produced by John Davis and Brian Manis.

Other than that, no further details are currently forthcoming, but given Hill’s family-friendly track record, we’re guessing this isn’t a big-budget remake of Bobcat Goldthwait’s Sleeping Dogs Lie…
