Tim Burton is the latest filmmaker turning his attention to live-action work on the small screen. While he's brought the likes of the Beetlejuice animated series and The World Of Stainboy to TV before, he's now developing something he didn't originate – a new, live-action show based on The Addams Family.
While the famous spooky clan, first created by cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938 famously haunted TV screens (twice), had two big screen live-action outings and are currently to be found in animated cinematic form with a sequel due next year, that isn't deterring Burton.
The director has Smallville developers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar on to run the show wherever it might end up – a bidding war is on now, according to Deadline, with Netflix at the top of the list. And while the specific concept for the show is under wraps for now, the show would reportedly be set in the modern day and from Wednesday Addams' point of view.
