We're more used to seeing him as an actor and frequent Coen brothers collaborator, but Tim Blake Nelson has stepped behind the camera a few times to direct. He's back at it with a new film called Michael Zero.

Somewhat unusually given his previous directorial output, this one is a sci-fi action thriller. The story, written on spec by Adam Alleca, follows a man called Michael Redmayne, who has a serious problem. The title gives a clue to his dilemma: he's been cloned to provide soldiers for a war, but those copies have deserted, and turned against the corporate state that birthed them. Now the original will have to find his clones and stop them. But will he end up sympathising with their cause? Only time will tell on that front.

Unlike previous films, there's no word yet on whether Nelson will act in the film, and he's busy tracking down the cast he needs. On the acting front, he'll be seen back working with the brothers on the Coens' Netflix-housed miniseries The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs, and has a number of indie movies on the way.
