Ti West and Eli Roth are two names you normally associate with blood, blades, screaming and slicing. So it’s somewhat surprising to learn that their first official collaboration will be a light-hearted tale about Chester the kangaroo and his search for a way to save his animal pals from…. All right, we can’t keep that one afloat any longer. They’re working on a horror called **The Sacrament.
West will be writing and directing the film, with Roth providing producing support and presenting the movie to give it that extra additional promotional kick.
As for the plot? That’s being kept in a slimy, dark dungeon for now, though you’ve got to figure from the title that some sort of religious theme will be at play. Roth did comment though, that this will be “Ti's first mainstream movie, without sacrificing the quality and unflinching horror of the subject matter.”
Worldview Entertainment is on board to finance and buyers will get a look at the concept in the coming days at the Toronto Film Festival, where Roth’s latest collaboration (which features him in front of the camera as well as producing) Aftershock will screen during the Midnight Madness section.
