Ti West Finds Bedbugs

Though he’s been toiling away since at least 2001, horror specialist Ti West has had most of his success more recently, with the likes of The House Of The Devil and The Innkeepers. And with several creepy projects on the horizon or bubbling away in a blood-filled pot, he’s not stopping with the scare factor any time soon. His latest job? Writing the script for Bedbugs.

Tango Pictures has snapped up the rights to Ben H Winters’ Quirk Books novel, which sees the Wendt family moving into a new home in Brooklyn and discovering some strange things going on. One member, Susan, starts suffering what she believes are bedbug bites, but no one else seems to be affected. She’s worried that she might be going nuts, until everyone discovers an even nastier reason to be afraid…

“Reading Bedbugs as a manuscript felt like the literary equivalent of a Ti West horror movie,” Quirk associate publisher Jason Rekulak tells Deadline. “A slow-burning supernatural story with fully realized characters, light on gore but heavy on menace and dread.”

Right now, West is on only on board to crank out the script, though there’s every chance he might end up directing the movie. Anyone else feeling itchy?
