One of America’s best-loved movie critics has died in Chicago. Gene Siskel was one half of the Siskel & Ebert show. With co-star Roger Ebert they became a TV institution over the decades for their famous for their thumbs up, thumbs down film verdicts. In spite of bringing quality film criticism to a mainstream audience he still remained a thorn in the side of Hollywood with his outspoken opinions on the Oscars. He will be replaced on the show with a series of guest critics.
