The already classy cast of Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island – it currently boasts Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Williams and Patricia Clarkson – just got even classier. The production has now added Emily Mortimer, Jackie Earle Haley and Max Von Sydow to its ranks. Nobody says no to Scorsese.
Based on Dennis Lehane's novel, Shutter Island is the story of two US marshalls (DiCaprio and Ruffalo) who are investigating the disappearance of a woman from a mental facility on a Massachusetts island. A hurricane, lying hospital staff and an inmate riot make their jobs just that little bit harder.
Von Sydow will play a hospital physician, Haley an inmate and Mortimer the escaped woman.
It had been reported that Shutter Island was changing its name, but that now seems not to be the case.
