As the clock ticks down to the release of the first proper trailer (i.e. not a grainy, dodgy leak of Comic-Con footage) for Marvel’s Thor, the studio has shoved the official teaser poster online over at Yahoo Movies.
And it’s certainly quite striking, bringing to mind the Sin City posters with its splash of red on a monochrome image, Chris Hemsworth standing moodily, reflecting on his lot in life to be a Norse god.
It’s just… we can’t quite get it out of our heads that we’ve seen it somewhere before. Hhhm… Where might that have been? Oh, that’s right! This is almost exactly the same image as our November issue cover!
Though it must be said – without the stormy lightning treatment as seen on our cover, it does look just a teeny bit like Thor is sulking after being told off by his dad (Anthony Hopkins’ Odin) for thumping his hammer in the house.*

In case there is anyone left who doesn’t know the plot by now, Thor is banished from Asgard by his dad for reigniting an ancient conflict with his arrogant actions. Cast down to Earth and forced to live among us puny mortals, he falls in love with scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and decides he really wants to show her his hammer.** More importantly, he must defend our planet from the evil machinations of sibling Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
We’ll bring you the trailer once it’s online, and the film itself will land on April 29.
*Not a double entendre.
