True-life book adaptation Wild already has Reese Witherspoon taking the lead and producing. Now it has The Newsroom’s Thomas Sadoski in talks to co-star alongside her{
Wild, which Dallas Buyer’s Club’s Jean-Marc Vallee is set to direct, was adapted from Cheryl Strayed’s memoir Wild: From Lost To Found On The Pacific Crest Trail.
Witherspoon is playing a young woman who is looking to escape from her tragic past and current marital problems by hiking a thousand miles of the Pacific Coast Trail. As she wanders off into the woods, she actually starts to discover something about herself. Sadoski is set to play her ex-husband, who still cares for her despite the fact that she cheated on him. There are shades of Sean Penn’s Into The Wild here, though with an even more troubled emotional journey (and presumably, given that the memoir is autobiographical, a happier ending).
Vallee is looking to have the cameras cranking within the next couple of months. Sadoski has just finished his second season on Aaron Sorkin’s news-flavoured drama and has a couple of indie movies coming up in The Dramatics and Take Care.
