He's usually found scurrying about the tech-obsessed hallways of Silicon Valley, but Thomas Middleditch has been dipping his toes more in movie territory of late. He's now joining the cast of Zombieland: Double Tap.

The long-awaited sequel, which started shooting last month, reunites the original main cast of Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as the characters doing their best to survive the zombie apocalypse while maintaining harmony in their unorthodox little thrown-together family. As for the story? All we really know is that our heroes will have to deal with some new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the last film, and other humans.

Middleditch's role isn't specified in Variety's report, but he joins a cast that also includes Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia. Ruben Fleischer is back directing, with returning writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese dreaming up the undead madness.

Zombieland: Double Tap is headed our way on 11 October, 10 years after the original opened. Middleditch will also be seen in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, due on 31 May.
