Thomas Jane is Driving Hard elsewhere here this morning, but there are darker days in his immediate future. The former Punisher has just signed on for **The Veil{
The title refers to a religious cult from the 1980s, who commit mass suicide but leave a five-year-old girl behind as a survivor. Thirty years later the girl returns to the compound with - what else? - a documentary film crew to try to dredge the secrets of the event from deep within her memory. But of course, the truth, when it's revealed, is of a more terrifying nature than she expected.
There's no official word yet on whether The Veil will go the found-footage route, although the presence within the story of that film crew might strongly suggest it. Jane's character also remains mysterious, so he could be one of the documentarians, a villainous cult member (or leader), or something else entirely.
What we do know is that the director is Phil Joanou, who made Heaven's Prisoners and Gridiron Gang, and worked with Jane previously on the unofficial Punisher short Dirty Laundry (see below). The screenplay is by Robert Ben Garant: a co-writer of Night At The Museum who went solo for Blumhouse's upcoming Jessabelle.
Shooting starts in April, so if The Veil is on Purge**-sequel form it should be out in about May.
