Sometimes they come back. And back again. And again. You might think it’s unnecessary to make another Ocean’s Eleven sequel. But George Clooney and the gang clearly disagree.
After the usual round of schedule juggling and fee-cutting, all the major cast members (except Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones, thus far) have agreed to re-unite for Ocean’s Thirteen. Didn’t see that title coming, did you?
Steven Soderbergh will be calling the shots once again from a script by Rounders writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Plot details are thin on the ground, but we do know that Ellen Barkin will be joining the team and that she’ll play an important part in the life of Linus (Matt Damon). Oh, and this time the plot will again involve a casino, which the production plans to build in Warner Brothers’ LA back lot, to avoid having to shoot in a real facility.
"The odds were long on this happening, and it would not have been possible were it not for those actors and director moving other projects out of the way," producer Jerry Weintraub tells Variety. "The five of us are all great friends, and we decided we were going to kill ourselves to get this done."
