Following his visit with Her Maj as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the latest news about Paddington is some actual announcements about the third film featuring the world's most adorable Peruvian bear. Not only does it have a title – Paddington In Peru – but a director in Dougal Wilson.

Yes, those disappointed that Paul King - who so wonderfully brought the first two movies to screens – is definitely no longer directing the new one can take heart that he's still attached as a producer and crafted the story for this one with regular collaborator Simon Farnaby alongside Mark Burton. Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont have since written the script.

Wilson's name isn't well known in movies mostly because this will mark his feature film directorial debut. But he's an established name in ads, having worked on commercials for Apple, AT&T and, perhaps most relevant to Paddington, John Lewis Christmas ads.

"After ten years of working on the Paddington movies, I feel absurdly protective of the little bear, and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he embarks on his third big-screen adventure," King tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Dougal’s work is never less than astounding: funny, beautiful, heartfelt, imaginative, and totally original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to 'Please Look After This Bear.' I know Dougal will do so admirably."

"As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to be continuing the story of Paddington," says Wilson. "It’s a massive responsibility, but all my efforts will be focussed on making a third film that honours the love so many people have for this very special bear."

There's no confirmation on cast or the story (beyond the obvious, given the title), but we'd be shocked if Ben Whishaw isn't already doing his vocal exercise to once more voice the lead.
