She’s been linked with the film for ages, but Charlize Theron has now locked in a deal to co-star alongside Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
You might recall that Scott finally spilled a few solid details about the movie last month, explaining how it gestated from his original idea to craft an Alien prequel, but then headed off into more original territory, with script work from Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof.
But like Scott's talk of **Alien **DNA in his original announcement, the link to the acid-blooded Xenomorphs is still present and correct, according to Fassbender, who talked up the script to MTV. “There's a definite connecting vein," Fassbender tells the site. "You realize you're part of something else, but it's definitely in keeping with the old ones."
Asked to elaborate, he explains his early reactions to the draft he got to see. “When I read it, I was like, 'Well, okay, another Alien. Where do you go with this idea?' And then I sort of read the script, and it's new, yet it's in keeping with the old traditions as well. But there's a whole new revelation within this film."
Plus, as you might expect from something that Scott initiated, it’s also planning to be a smart take on the story… "There's action in it. But the intelligence is what struck me when I read it. It's more sort of like the original ones. There are things happening and building, and the intelligence of the first two-thirds of the film gets you ready for the action."
So now he and Rapace have been joined by Theron, anyone else you’d like to see brought aboard?
**Prometheus **is scheduled to be out on June 8, 2012.
