Scary things lurking under kids' beds have been horror fodder for as long as there have been, well, kids and beds. And while there have been many cinematic takes on the concept, only Boogeyman can boast both a Stephen King short story as subject matter and Host director Rob Savage. Find the first trailer for the new film below…

The script is adapted from King's story (originally published in Cavalier magazine in 1973 before it featured in the author's 1978 collection Night Shift by A Quiet Place duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, with additional work from Mark Heyman.

The Boogeyman follows high school student Sadie Harper (Sophie Thatcher) and her younger sister Sawyer (Obi-Wan Kenobi's Vivien Lyra Blair) are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will (Chris Messina), a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.

We eager to see what Savage can unleash now he doesn't have the constraints of the POV terror he brought to Host and DASHCAM. The Boogeyman will creep into Stateside cinemas on 2 June; a UK date has yet to be confirmed.
