As Netflix looks to keep expanding the Witcher universe, casting is moving ahead on prequel series Blood Origin. Queen & Slim's Jodie Turner-Smith has been cast in one of the lead roles.

Set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher, Blood Origin will show the backstory of the elven civilization before its fall. It'll tell a story lost to time – the creation of the very first Witcher and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged to become one.

Turner-Smith will play a warrior named Éile, who was blessed with the voice of a goddess and leaves her clan and role as the queen’s guardian to follow her heart and embark on a journey as a nomadic musician. A grand reckoning on the continent forces her to return to the way of the blade in her quest for vengeance and redemption.

Witcher creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is acting as an executive producer on the miniseries, though actual show-running duties will fall to Declan de Barra, who wrote on the first season of the series.
