Henry Cavill - The Witcher

The reviews may have been mixed, but The Witcher certainly made an impact for Netflix, which has just reported that the fantasy series has become its most successful first-season show ever. While the metrics it used to determine that have become a little controversial (2 minutes' viewing constitutes "watched"?), there's no denying it has hit the zeitgeist. And now the streaming service is looking to add more Witcher to its ranks, with an animate feature film called The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf in the works.

Little is known about plot specifics for the animated film, beyond the fact that it'll see a powerful new threat facing The Continent. We can expect to hear Henry Cavill and at least some of the other cast depending on which of their characters are used, and we'd be shocked if it wasn't more of Cavill's gruff Geralt taking on some new beasties. Series producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is involved, and the animation will come from Studio Mir.

Netflix has yet to announce a release date for the film, but it could conceivably fill the time as we wait for Season Two, which should arrive later this year.
