We might not be going anywhere fast in the real world, but hold on to your helmets: The Racer is here to prove there's still a few more thrills to be found in 2020 yet – and we've got a new clip, exclusive to Empire, to give you a feel for what's in store as well. The new drama, directed by Kieron J. Walsh from a script by Ciaran Cassidy, follows late-career cyclist Dominique Chabol (Louis Talpe) across the most dramatic three days of his life. At the opening Irish stages of the 1998 Tour de France, he finds himself caught in the middle of a doping scandal.

Game of Thrones star Iain Glen stars alongside Talpe as Sonny McElhone, Chabol's shady team doctor. The cast of The Racer also includes Matteo Simoni, Tara Lee, Ward Kerremans, Sarah Carroll, Timo Wagner and Karel Roden.

The Racer was due to premiere at SXSW back in March before the festival was cancelled, and will now be racing straight to the small screen next month. Here's an exclusive poster of the film:

Vertigo Releasing will be releasing The Racer in UK cinemas and on streaming platforms from 18 December.
