If you were a fan of last year's Netflix graphic novel adaptation The Old Guard, you'll likely be happy to learn - from star and producer Charlize Theron telling Variety – that the script for the sequel is ready and the cameras will be cranking next year.
Though no specific plot details were offered, we can expect the further adventures of Theron's immortal warrior Andy and her fellow long-lived mercenary types (the story specifically mentions Marwan Kenzari's Joe and Luca Marinelli's Nicky as returning), as they deal with their new status in the world.
Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the first film, and we're hopeful she'll be back for the follow-up, since she's on the record as sayin that she and writer Greg Rucka (who created the original graphic novel trilogy with Leandro Fernández), have plans for the continuing story.
In related Theron news, Vin Diesel let slip that he has writers figuring out a Fast & Furious spin-off for her character Cypher, which [spoiler alert if you've yet to watch the new, ninth movie] would validate her showing up for a just a couple of scenes in the latest sporting a page boy hair cut and mostly strutting around a glass/light prison.
