The Mandalorian Season 2

The time is coming, everyone: hop on your Blurrg, grab your very own Baby Yoda, and saddle up – The Mandalorian Season 2 is a matter of weeks away. The Star Wars live-action series, pioneered by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, proved a huge hit on Disney+ last year (in the US) and earlier this year (in the UK), and production luckily wrapped on the second set of episodes before the world went into lockdown. As a result, the next season is definitely arriving later this year – as confirmed in a social media post revealing that The Mandalorian will return on 30 October. It’s a Halloween miracle, and we’re all dressing as Din Djarin and The Child.

At the moment, we simultaneously know a lot and next-to-nothing about the series’ return. That’s because there are plenty of exciting reports about what the new episodes will have in store, but also nothing officially confirmed by Disney and LucasFilm. But if the rumours are to be believed, the new episodes will bring a live-action Ahsoka Tano played by Rosario Dawson, the return of Boba Fett (last seen tumbling into the Sarlacc pit), an episode helmed by Robert Rodriguez, and more exploits from Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon and the darksaber he was wielding in the closing seconds of Season 1.

Of course, the most important news is that Baby Yoda will be back, melting us all with his puppy-dog eyes, his pinky ears that flap in the breeze, and with all those cute little gurgly sounds he makes. Will he eat more frogs? Maybe. Will there be more soup on the horizon? We can but dream. Will we be charting it all week-by-week on the Empire Podcast Spoiler Special channel? Almost certainly.

Stay tuned for more images and trailers arriving in the run-up to that 30 October release date, and cancel all your Halloween party plans accordingly. This is the way.
