There is good news and bad news for both Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) and the standalone Flash movie that is speeding towards production. While director Andy Muschietti has cast Maribel Verdú to play Barry's mother, Nora Allen, he'll also need to find a new actor to play his father, as Billy Crudup must drop out of the movie.
Verdú, a veteran of films such as Y Tu Mama Tambien and Pan's Labyrinth, will be a critical part of the film, as the story finds Barry trying to use his powers to save his mother. She was murdered, with his father framed for the crime, and Barry's attempts end up rupturing the multiverse, which explains why we'll see the likes of Michael Keaton's Batman appearing alongside Ben Affleck's.
More recently, Kiersey Clemons, cast years ago, solidified her role as Iris West, Barry's soulmate. As for Crudup, he appeared in Justice League as Henry Allen, but scheduling conflicts with his The Morning Show gig mean he won't be headed to the UK for the Flash movie shoot this spring. The movie itself is on the calendar for November 2022.
