The film isn't even in cinemas yet and already director Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. are busy building out a world of spin-offs for The Batman. With a series set among the corrupt Gotham Police Department already chugging through development, a second small-screen spin-off is in the early stages, one focused on classic Bat-villain The Penguin.
AKA Oswald Cobblepot, the crime lord has been a constant thorn in Batman's side and in Reeves' film will be brought to life by Colin Farrell (though he's said he doesn't know how much of the movie he's actually in).
This new series, which Deadline has heard will be a Scarface-style look at the Penguin's rise, so far only has Reeves and Batman producer Dylan Clark aboard as executive producers. Given the prequel nature of the show, Farrell likely may not be the star.
The Batman, which has Robert Pattinson playing the title character, is scheduled to be in UK cinemas on 4 March next year.
