They've all been in much-praised and well-watched projects, and now Tessa Thompson, Lakeith Stanfield and Steven Yeun will all star together in a new drama. Boots Riley is making his directorial debut with Sorry To Bother You.

Written by Riley, the film finds a black telemarketer struggling with self-esteem issues who suddenly discovers the key to business success. But as he's propelled to the upper echelons of his company, his activist friends are making their own stand against unfair labour practices. And then he also uncovers his corporate overlords' dark secret, which leads to him deciding whether to stand up or sell out.

There are no details on what the main trio will be doing in the film (though we can see Stanfield bringing his usual abilities to the main role), and Riley is planning to start shooting this month in Oakland, California.

Thompson has Thor: Ragnarok out on 27 October, and will also be seen in Annihilation next year, while spending her summer shooting the new season on Westworld. Stanfield is appearing in a variety of upcoming movies including The Incredible Jessica James, Crown Heights and Death Note. Yeun, meanwhile, with his (spoiler alert!) more open schedule these days, will crop up in Okja (28 June), Mayhem and Chew.
