Art The Clown is back! That's right folks, the killer clown who makes Pennywise look like Mr Tumble, who would make even Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees go "Bit much mate!", is gearing up to make his glorious (gory-ous?) return in macabre moviemaker Damien Leone's Terrifier 3. And whilst the first two Terrifier movies bound Art's evil antics to the spooky season of Halloween, for the horrifying harlequin's third reign of terror Leone is set to paint Christmas red. Cue baubles, bloodshed, and the world's freakiest Father Christmas in the stomach-churning first full trailer for this one. Check it out below... if you dare:
If your idea of a festive film night is mainlining Krampus, Black Christmas, and It's A Wonderful Knife for shits and giggles, then this may well be the perfect crimbo prezzie for you. There's some gnarly looking chainsaw-in-the-shower business, a Black Christmas homaging shot of Art in a rocking chair looking suitably satanic, and several wince-worthy moments — namely a very un-Miracle On 34th Street looking encounter between a group of unsuspecting kiddies and a distinctly Terrifier looking mall Santa with a very very un-Miracle On 34th Street looking axe. It's shocking, although admittedly very slickly shot stuff (the box office spoils from Terrifier 2 haven't gone to waste), and if you're already in the tank for the franchise then this promises to be the series' sickest entry yet — which, if you've seen the first two, is really saying something.
Here's the official synopsis for the claret-strewn threequel: “After surviving Art the Clown’s (David Howard Thornton) Halloween massacre, Sienna (Lauren LaVera) and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind. But just when they think they’re safe, Art the Clown returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare." Also stuck in Leone's new nightmare are returning cast members Samantha Scaffidi, Elliot Fullam, and AEW wrestler Chris Jericho.
When Empire spoke to Art actor David Howard Thornton for this month's Gladiator II issue, the man behind the clown make-up admitted that he 'almost vomited' shooting Leone's latest joint. After watching this trailer, you can bet we'll have our barf bags at the ready for when Terrifier 3 hits cinemas on 11 October.
