A Hidden Life

After a few more experimental films (with mixed results), Terrence Malick returned to what many out of the Cannes Film Festival have been calling his true form. With positive reviews and some buzz, the writer/director's latest, A Hidden Life heads our way early next year, and the first trailer has arrived.

A Hidden Life, based on real events, is the story of an unsung hero, Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. When the Austrian peasant farmer is faced with the threat of execution for treason, it is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife Fani and children that keeps his spirit alive.

Eschewing A-list actors for local performers (who deliver great work), this is Malick in both contemplative and dynamic form. The film will be released Stateside on 13 December before heading to the UK on 17 January.
