Given that he kicked his directorial career into high gear with a short that spawned the Saw franchise, James Wan feels like the right person to help guide other filmmakers into converting their own shorts into movies. He’s now producing David Sandberg’s horror pic Lights Out, which has Teresa Palmer aboard to star.
The Thing/** Story Of Your Life**’s Eric Heisserer is also aboard to produce and has written the script, which adapts Sandberg’s 2013 short (you can view it at the bottom of the page).
Lights Out, which is about to start shooting, finds a young boy and his estranged sister confronting a terrifying menace that – as you might be able to guess – only appears when the lights go out. Wan’s Atomic Monster company is co-producing is handling the film for New Line, which is hoping for another low budget hit along the lines of The Conjuring.
Palmer has several films on the way, including Terrence Malick’s** Knight Of Cups**, which is reportedly out on January 1 here, the Point Break remake, which follows on January 8 and Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Choice, set for March 4.
