Tenet

It was looking touch and go for a while as to whether the summer blockbuster season would be a total goner in 2020 – but the drought is nearly over. After multiple delays, concerns about cinemas reopening, and other major movies heading to streaming, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is readying to enter the world on the big screen as intended – and if all goes to plan, it’s releasing in the UK on 26 August. Plenty of UK film venues have now re-opened with additional safety measures – and as of today, many of them are now taking Tenet bookings.

British cinema chains including Odeon, Vue, Cineworld, Picturehouse, Everyman, Showcase and more are accepting bookings for Nolan’s latest film ahead of its release – sure to be a hot ticket come the end of the month. The last few weeks have seen the arrival of more cinema-only films as UK venues have re-opened their doors, including Unhinged and An American Pickle, but the mysterious Tenet (whose plot is still under wraps, but involves ‘time inversion’ and ‘evolves from the world of international espionage’) will mark the biggest film to hit UK cinemas since March.

The Tenet cast is led by John David Washington, joined by the likes of Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, and Clémence Poésy, plus Nolan regulars Michael Caine and Sir Kenneth Branagh. We’ll find out exactly what they’re up against – and how ‘time inversion’ actually works – when Tenet opens on 26 August, followed by a US release from 3 September. Fingers crossed.
