Amy Adams has signed on to star in The Ten Best Days Of My Life, an adaptation of the Adena Halpern novel about a woman who dies and goes to heaven.

So far, so apparently ultra-depressing, but there’s a twist: when she gets to Heaven, she faces being downgraded to a lesser form of Paradise unless she can recount the ten best days of her life. Flashbacks ahoy!

The movie will see Adams reteam with Shawn Levy, who directed her in the forthcoming Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian, in which she plays Amelia Earhart.

In fact, Levy is actually a longtime friend of Halpern’s, and the project got moving when he saw Adams reading the book on set one day. "I told her I knew the writer, she said she was loving the book, and I asked her if we should try to do this together,” he told Variety. And yes, folks, it really can be that simple.

Although there will be comedic elements to The Ten Best Days Of My Life, it will also represent an opportunity for Levy – who made his name with comedy - to move into more serious, dramatic areas.

"There is a father-daughter dynamic at the heart of the character's redemption, and as the father of three girls, that resonated strongly for me,” he explained.

No writer is on board as of yet, but Levy will produce the movie along with Adams.
