Like the changing of the seasons and the tides of the sea, it must be time for another adaptation of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. In this case, it's a new CG animated movie produced by Seth Rogen, called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which has its first teaser online. Have a totally tubular look…

The story this time? Glad you asked… After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

The Mitchells Vs The Machines' Jeff Rowe is in the director's chair alongside Kyler Spears – and the Mitchells influence is clear in the animation on show in the teaser, using a mix of techniques to create a unique, painterly style.

As announced by Rogen at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards this weekend, the voice cast is a mix of well known names and rising stars including Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko, Jackie Chan as Splinter, John Cena as Rocksteady and Rogen himself as Bebop.

We can also expect to hear Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Brady Noon as Raphael, The Bear's Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom, musician Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ice Cube as Superfly, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman and Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will be in cinemas from 4 August.
